Dear All!!!
I wish you all a very Happy New Year and a Merry Christmas!!! ISKRENNO - NEPROSTO BILO SMOTRET NA VASHI FOTOGRAFII - TAAAAAAAK HOTELOS BIT TAM S VAMI!!!! :-))))) But - what can we do... Gotta WORK!!! I can see that you are all doing well and enjoying the times of festivities and making the best of it!!! Maybe some help from a good old friend could do? Some hints on how to prepare for the party - say, for how long one should not eat and drink before the Moscow Free Speakers New Year's party so that he would be ready for what is coming?
Here we celebrated the festivities in a peculiar environment - Ded Moroz was there, but dressed in his red-and-white swimming costume, with Snegurochka in her tangas, and his coach was with the dolphins instead dears!!! It was +28 outside (INSIDE MUCH WARMER - HOT, HOT, HOT!!!) and more in Dec and Jan and now we are slowly going UP the Celsius Scale day by day (not to mention Fahrenheits!!!). At the Christmas party I sang my favourite 16 TONS, followed by a stream of Serbian folk-songs and got the BIG applause on the open stage and SOOOOO many flowers, and since I had no where to store them, I had to ask the audience to send them by phone to me! On the 1st of Jan we went swimming, on the 7th went to the sand dunes, on the 14th we went to the old capital Nizwa - wanted to do the desert skiing, but the wind was not good, so went back and enjoyed the Sun and the beach again... So - WHAT to say - LIFE is not easy here, days pass at work or on the beach - NOT nearly the variety of things you are facing there: METRO rush hours, PROBKI on the streets, SNOW and ICE on the roads everywhere, BUSSES running late, WEATHER unpredictable... Here - one can plan his week-ends the full YEAR in advance - and be sure no bad weather will disrupt the schedule!!! But still - I am MISSING the company of my TM friends, you - all the nice people I met there, easy talks during tea-break, SOME OF THE TIME-KEEPING REPORTS that no TM club in the WORLD had ever seen (guess you all know what I mean :-))) and - ALMOST MOST OF ALL - getting my "regular" Table Topic Champion Award!!! But, soon the 3-year contract that I have just signed here will be completed and I will be moving back to Moscow for another project, another contract - and then will be seeing you ALL - if not before!!!

Good news!
One of our members and our current Madam President - Valeria Kholodkova, CC - has received her second educational award - she is now the Competent Leader!
Thus she became the second person in Moscow Free Speakers Club (together with Helen Dyakonova, CL) who has the CL now.
Now our Club has one more goal completed in its Distinguished Club Program (the 4th one already)! We have 4 more goals to fulfill in order to get the status of the President Distinguished Club.
Congratulations!

Our Club have received its first membership award - the Smedley Award! Isn't it great to have it just in the year of our TI's 85th Anniversary?!
Very soon we will get the Award Ribbon and will be able to display it on our Club's banner!
P.S. This is legendary Mr. Ralph Smedley - the founder of Toastmasters!
Today is the 85th anniversary of Toastmasters International!
All official members have received the congratulation letter from our international president 2009-2010 Gary Schmidt! (newcomers and guests, you can see this letter below)
And of course Moscow Free Speakers are also going to celebrate this day on our next meeting - October, 29!

October 22 is an auspicious date for Toastmasters around the world. It marks the day that a small group of people, led by Dr. Ralph C. Smedley, held the first official Toastmasters meeting in the basement of a YMCA in Santa Ana, California, USA.
While the original intent of the group was to teach after-dinner speeches to young men, as we all know, Toastmasters has evolved to become a worldwide leader in communication and leadership development.
